About JapaScan

JapaScan is a dictionary program for Linux which makes it easier to read Japanese. It automatically looks up any selected Japanese text. JapaScan is written in Python and uses PyGTK and Glade for the interface stuff.

JapaScan is free software and released under the GNU General Public License.

Requirements

To run JapaScan you probably need the following:

  • Python (tested with version 2.4.2)
  • PyGTK (tested with version 2.8.2)
  • libglade (tested with version 2.5.1)

If you want to use ChaSen to split Japanese sentences into words you also need:

  • ChaSen (tested with version 2.3.3)
